Lakes Breeze Arthur's Reserve 2013 or 2018.
The Lakes Breeze Arthur's Reserve is a full boodied red wine made in homage to Arthur Follett who planted the first vines way back in 1880. This is a serious red wine with oodles of blackberry fruit mixed with eucalyptus and subtle oaky, spice. Atrhur's reserve is kep in oak casks for 20 months which softens the tannins and adds extra complexity and character to this magnificent wine.
Lake Breeze winemaker Greg Follett is part of the 4th generation of Folletts to work on the family property, which has been in the grape growing business in Langhorne Creek for 120 years. Only in the past 25 years have they been making wine, and have rapidly built an enviable reputation for consistently producing outstanding wines. Greg uses exclusively old vine fruit (and the best 30 per cent of that) resulting in wines that are concentrated and rich. He takes a 'hands on' approach, responsible for all facets of the business, from fruit selection through to sales and marketing.
Vineyard
This stylish wine is a tribute to Arthur Follett, who planted the first vines on the family property in the 1880's. The grapes for the Arthur's Reserve were carefully selected from 40 to 50 year old vines from the family vineyard on the famous Langhorne Creek flood plain.
Winemaking
Small open fermenters were used with maceration times varying from eight to 12 days. The wine was then aged in 100% French Oak for 20 months, with only the best barrels of the vintage chosen for the final blend, which remained unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot this is crafted from some of the finest hand picked fruit from the Lake Breeze vineyards. An award-winning voluptous red blend of spice, eucalyptus with gentle hints of violets - great longevity ahead as the soft black and blueberry fruit develops more briary and earthy undertones.
Serving Suggestion
Pairs wonderfully with a braised lamb shank and entrecôte.
