It produces wine of high acidity and often quite neutral flavours, but in the hands of decent winemakers this grape variety can take on a delightful fruit sweetness that works wonderfully with the acidity. It is often used to produce medium-bodied white wine but is now enjoying great success in sparkling wines from Vouvray and Crémant de Loire.
Chenin Blanc can taste very different depending on the method of production and place it comes from. This versatile grape can be manipulated well by winemakers and produces a lovely style of white wine.
The Sula Chenin Blanc is a fantastic example of an Indian white wine which is using this varietal to it's full expression.
