Tramin Gewurztraminer 2018
A beautiful winery making beautiful wines. Cantina Tramin, founded in 1898, has 280 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on the cultivation of the vines. It covers 230 hectares of vineyards situated on the sunny slopes at an altitude of 250-700M above sea level. These vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of northern Italy. The sleepy village of Tramin, where the winery is situated, is thought to be the birthplace of the Traminer white grape variety, also known as Gewurztraminer. In 2011 Tramin gained the double Stella . This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso. Work has just been finished on the construction of a new state-of-the-art winery blessed with the latest technology.
The grapes were softly pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 21C . No malolactic fermentation took place. The wine was left to rest in stainless steel vats until bottled.
Spice and minerals with tropical fruit , pineapple and lychees. Well structured, with good balancing acidity and a long finish. Lovely Gewurztraminer expression.
