Tramin Nussbaumer Gewurztraminer 2018
A beautiful winery making beautiful wines. Cantina Tramin, founded in 1898, has 280 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on the cultivation of the vines. It covers 230 hectares of vineyards situated on the sunny slopes at an altitude of 250-700M above sea level. These vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of northern Italy. The sleepy village of Tramin, where the winery is situated, is thought to be the birthplace of the Traminer white grape variety, also known as Gewurztraminer. In 2011 Tramin gained the "double Stella" . This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso. Work has just been finished on the construction of a new state-of-the-art winery blessed with the latest technology.
The grapes were carried to the cellars in small boxes where they were crushed and briefly macerated in order to extract the aromatic characteristics of the grape, After pressing the must was left to ferment at 18C -20C in stainless steel tanks. The wine was left to rest in tank until bottled.
Full, off dry with dense and exotic fruit flavours, balanced and elegant with a long and sustained finish. Delicious!
Everyday Serving Suggestion
An elegant wine showing a kaleidoscope of aromas. Rose petal and lily blossom combine with ripe exotic yellow fruits such as cantaloupe, mango, passion fruit and lychee, all enveloped by spicy notes of ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is equally aromatic and rich, but with fine juiciness and a salty minerality and an endless finish
