Grenache is a grape variety used often in blending particularly in the Rhone area of France. It is often made as a single grape variety and produces a spicy, medium-bodied red wine. Grenache is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world. Due to the fact that it ripens later than most red grapes it needs a climate that is hot later in the year. Countries like Australia, Spain, America and Sardinia are some of the best exponents of this variety.
