This 12 bottle selection is all about stunning Australian wines. It's time to get some delightful Aussie reds out that will fill your mouth and heart with warmth. I picked 2 bottles of each so you have one to drink and one to cherish and drink with someone special or a special occasion!
I have mixed this case with some of my favourite Australian red wines from Bob Berton, Larry Cherubino and Teusner.
Let's start with 3 wines from my favourite Australian grower......Bob Berton. We still have some of the multi-award-winning Coonawarra Cabernet and this is a heady mix of blackcurrant, eucalyptus and gentle spicey clove.
The Barossa Shiraz has been adored by many people and it keeps on winning trophies. This is the latest vintage which will keep for many years and has all the power and finesses you would expect from Berton mixed with spectacular spice, cassis and firm but soft tannins.
Throw in Bob's phenomenal Winemakers Reserve Durif and the for t3 wines of this case are amazing. The Durif is known as Petit Syrah in other countries and is a superb example of this dense, rich, powerful wine. Expect black teeth and delight in the coating which will ensure the flavours linger for a long time in the palate.
Larry Cherubino makes a delightful Pinot Noir called Cruel Mistress. Named in such a way to explain the Pinot is a truly cruel grape to grow and make great. It needs constant attention, lots of money spent on it and can always ruin your life at a moments notice.....with a poor wine after so much has been spent in vain.
Teusner Winery makes the delightful Avatar which is a blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz. This is a twist on the usual Grenache, Shiraz Merlot GSM that abound in the Rhone region and is now immensely popular in Australia.
We Finish with an old favourite, the Bull Ant Cabernet Merlot, this is a medium-bodied red which is soft, rich and moreish. It gives a delightful mix of blackcurrant and plum with mid-level tannins.
