Bishops Leap Sauvignon Blanc is made by Saint Clair and is from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. It is typical of most New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc's in terms of its grapefruit characteristics. The thing that separates Bishop Leap Sauvignon from most other Marlborough Sauvignon is the combination of passion fruit, lychees and gentle herbaceous undertones making it a wonderful wine to have with anything spicy or just as great everyday drinking wine. Bishops Leap is also superb when served with pan-fried sea bass or deep-fried whitebait.
Neal and Judy Ibbotson were one of the original pioneers in the Marlborough wine industry They first planted vineyards in the Wairau Valley in 1978 and then established the Saint Clair Estate in 1994. They now own over 100 hectares of vineyards in six different Marlborough locations. These locations were specifically selected for their ability to produce top-quality grapes and for the unique terroir.
Neal began to combine his extensive knowledge of viticulture with the blazing talent of Hamish Clark. This combination has become a huge success and Saint Clair has enjoyed massive success locally and internationally. This is displayed in the many Trophies and Gold medals won by this remarkable winery. Saint Clair is a name that has become internationally recognised as a producer of world-class wines.
Vinification
The grapes are pressed with minimal skin contact. The juice is cool-fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and zing.
Viticulture
Grapes used in the production of this Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc are carefully selected from sites in the Southern Wairau valleys. The fruit was harvested at night to ensure optimum flavour development and ripeness.

Bishops Leap Marlborough Sauvignon is an ideal wine with fresh seafood or white meat. This wine is also delightful with Asian cuisine such as Thai or anything made using chillies. This delicious white wine is also a fantastic wine to just enjoy on it's own as the balance of fruit and acidity are just right.
