Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni Toscana 2017
A Florentine family with thirty generations dedicated to the production of great Tuscan wines in five estates in Tuscany. A Frescobaldi style that brings together tradition and innovation. Spur pruned cordon vines with an average age of 12 years old. High density planting with 5,500 vines per hectare in the vineyards.
Clay, medium textured
Temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 30C lasting 12 days. Maceration on skins for 4 week. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was matured in oak barrique for 12 months.
Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni 2010 is an intense ruby-red color with purplish highlights, showing a brilliant clarity and lovely consistency. On the nose, fruit is the protagonist with notes of cherry, currant, strawberry, and blue California plum. Added to these are spicy hints of cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg, roast cocoa, coffee and hazelnut. The palate is warm, supported by a pleasing acidity that makes it fresh. Subtle tannin texture; dense and elegant. Long and persistent, Tenuta Frescobaldi finishes with a pleasant quality of freshness and fruit.
Ideal with succulent steak, hearty stews or with a cheese board at the end of a meal.
