Chateau de Campuget Syrah La Sommeliere 2014 - 12 bottles for the price of 10
The La Sommelliere Syrah from Chateau de Campuget has herbal and garrique notes with hints of chocolate. This is a warm and savoury red wine that will benefit from at least 2 hours of decanting prior to drinking to allow the tannins to soften and bring out the extraordinary aromas. The La Sommeliere Syrah is a serious red wine that will age magnificently if cellared with care. Serve with grilled or roasted red meats and game dishes to appreciate this wine at its best. This is the flagship wine from Chateau de Campuget.
Winery Information:
Costieres de Nimes, the easternmost appellation of the Languedoc, is effectively part of the Rhone since the climate, soil and topography are so similar to those just over the river in the southern Cotes-du-Rhone vineyards. The relatively uniform soils are marked by large pebbles on gentle, typically south-facing slopes. Chateau de Campuget is a top quality estate near Nimes with a long history. In its cellar, tradition and progress unite to provide aroma, finesse and bouquet. Chateau de Campuget deploys a wide range of traditional Rhone cepage to produce full, easy and spicy wines.
Vinification:
Syrah grapes from old vines. Aged for 12 months in large oak barrels in order to obtain softer tannins.
Tasting Note:
Chateau de Campuget Syrah La Sommeliere is highly concentrated with ripe Syrah notes of chocolate and spice complemented by toasty oak.
