Andeluna 1300 Merlot 2019 - 12 bottles for the price of 10
The Andeluna 1300 Merlot name comes from the altitude at which the grapes are grown, 1300 meters above sea level. This delicious Merlot is medium-bodied with distinct flavours and aromas of Morello cherry, plum and blackcurrant. It is perfect when served with lighter red meat dishes or tapas and is delightful to drink on its own, be careful though as it's a 15% ABV wine!
Winery Information:
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested. Pre fermentation maceration is carried out at a low temperature. Then fermentation is carried out in stainless steel using selected yeasts. The juice is pumped over three times, twice daily. The wine is then aged in French and American oak for six months and then aged for a further six months in the bottle before release.
Viticulture
Grapes come from Andeluna's estate owned vineyards located in Tupungato at an altitude of 1.300 mts. Canopy management ensures small yields of less than 10,000kg per hectare. The vines are irrigated by a drop-water system that regulates and supplies the exact amount of water that the plant needs.
Tasting Note
This Merlot has a medium body and very good structure and balance. Aromas of Morello cherry, black currant, blackberry and cinnamon with notes of chocolate, anise and minerals combine with flavours of cherry, vanilla, black pepper and spices to complement the sweet, delicate tannins and produce a noble wine with a long and gentle finish.
