Broken Shackle Classic Red Wine 2020 6 bottle case
Broken Shackle Classic Red is an easy drinking Australian red wine with jammy sweet fruit flavours and aromas. It's great with pan seared sheelfish, barneque meats and spicy food but soft enough to be drunk on it's own.
Established by Bob and Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 75 acres of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia, Berton Vineyards has been one of Hallgarten Druitt's most important partners. The superb Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility has the capacity to process 10,000 tonnes, and allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings.
Viticulture
All vines have been spur pruned. Vine age is varied. Vines are planted roughly 1.8m apart with 3.6m between the rows to allow machinery access. The trellis system is generally a single wire cordon.
Tasting Note
The Broken Shackle red has a palate that is lively, exhibiting intense forest fruit flavours wonderfully offset by spicy oak and a background of aromatic dried herbs. This vintage is a blend of Shiraz and Merlot. The term Broken Shackle refers to the winemakers desire to produce the best wine each year that he can. In order to achieve this he needs to pick the best fruit and so the blend often varies from year to year.
Everyday Serving Suggestion
Broken Shackle Red is perfect with spicy lamb dishes served with lightly grilled Mediterranean vegetables.
