Antina Cabernet Sauvignon Tempranillo Crianza 2018
The Antina Cabernet Sauvignon Tempranillo blend from Tierra Castilla is a superb example of value wine from Spain. The region of La Mancha is not as sexy or regarded as Rioja or Navarra but this means that you can buy superb value for money wines from this region. Antina Cabernet Tempranillo is soft and fruity with complex blackcurrant and toasted oak characteristics in the background. Superb with most foods but especially good with tapas or to enjoy on it's own.
Casa Del Valle in La Mancha boasts an entirely new winery. The bodega is owned by a group of Riojan growers who between them have 3 decades of winemaking experience in Rioja, strong financial backing and the most advanced modern technology. The bodega is surrounded by 100 hectares of new vineyards growing the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah varieties, chosen for their great suitability for ageing and their well defined character.
Vinification
The different grape varieties were vinified separately in order to preserve the maximum character of each varietal. The Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in oak casks for 6 months in order to add depth and complexity to wine whilst the Tempranillo was stored in steel vats, prior to blending, in order to preserve the fresh fruit aromas.
Viticulture
The vines are grown in the Caliza Franco Arenosa soils of Castilla de la Mancha located around the village of Yepes, in the province of Toledo. They are trained using the Double Cordon Royat system and pruning is carried out by hand.
Tasting Note
Warm, earthy and mellow aromas with spice and ripe blackberry fruit with toasted wood in the background. Fruity and smooth.
