Chateau Beau Site Cru Bourgeois St Estephe 2012
Chateau Beau Site is a classic blend of Bordeaux grapes which offers superb value for money. This remarkable wine is a classic Saint Estéphe showing firm tannins with an earthy and warming style with hints of cloves. Chateau Beau Site Saint Estephe is best served with roast red and white meats of game dishes and will always benefit from a couple of hours of careful decanting prior to serving.
Château Beau-Site, originally classified as a Cru Bourgeoius superieur in 1932, is situated just behind Grand Cru Chateau Calon-Segur, at one of the highest points of the Medoc, with a fantastic view over the Gironde. The Casteja family, who also own Château Batailley and Château Trotte Vieille, bought the chateau in 1955, and since 1966 Beau Site has been classified as a Cru Grand Bourgeois Exceptionnel. The château owns nearly 100 hectares of vines with an average age of 35 years.
This wine is vinified in the traditional method and then matured for 12 to 18 months in oak, 40% of which is new.
The majority of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend yields a wine with ripe blackcurrant fruit, balanced oak and good structure. A typical Saint Estephe full of power and temperament.
