Chateau Cantenac Brown Brio de Cantenac Brown 2014
Brio de Cantenac Brown is the second wine of Chateau Cantenac Brown, a 3rd Cru Classé Margaux. Brio can be one of the best value Bordeaux wines when it comes from a good or great vintage. Made from a blend of three of the classic red Bordeaux grapes which combine together to produce a medium bodied red wine of immense elegance, freshness and class. This delightful Margaux is superb when served with rich Duck, poultry dishes and grilled red meats.
Cantenac Brown's vineyard of 42 hectares is in the heart of the Margaux appellation, principally in the commune of Cantenac in the South of the appellation. The Margaux appellation terroirs are terraced groups of gravel, ensuring good drainage. The Cantenac Brown soil is typical Medoc gravel. Cabernets in particular do well in this soil, they produce fine wines with intense bouquet, which are suitable for ageing. Jose Sanfins, the technical director and Herve Martin, his vineyard manager, have installed a vineyard management system known as La Lutte Raisonne which aims to limit chemical treatments and use natural products as much as possible.
Vinification
Traditional vinification under controlled temperature in stainless steel vats. Maceration during 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in barrels and in vats. Ageing in French oak barrels during 12 months (25% new barels, 75% one year barrels)
