Chateau de Suduiraut Castelnau De Suduiraut 2014
Castelnau de Suduiraut is the second wine of Chateau de Suduiraut a 1er Cru Classé Sauternes Estate. This superb value for money dessert wine is elegantly rich and voluptuous with almonds, honey and sweet candied fruits. It pairs wonderfully with most cheeses, desserts, foie gras and also with spicy Asian dishes. It is soft enough to be drunk on its own as an aperatif, palate cleanser or just to enjoy after a lovely meal.
The history of Chateau Suduiraut, in Sauternes, goes back centuries. After the total destruction of the property by the Duke d'Epernon in the 1600s, Count Blaise de Suduiraut replanted the vineyard and restored the estate to its former glory. The Chateau is a superb example of 18th century architecture. Aristocratic, classical, and bright in style, the Chateau is surrounded by charming gardens designed by Le Natre. The quality of this First Classed Growth is the result of the unflagging attention devoted to its crafting. Extremely low yields foster the concentration of sugars. Each vat is stringently selected.
Selective hand harvest by successive pickings is followed by 2-3 weeks of fermentation in temperature controlled vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in 2 year old oak barrels with racking every 3 months.
Chateau de Suduiraut Castelnau De Suduiraut is a beautifully balanced sweet wine with luscious fruit and a lively balancing freshness. This is the 2nd wine from Chateau de Suduiraut and is immense value for money.
