Chateau de Tracy Pouilly Fume 2019
Chateau de Tracy is one of the oldest producers in a very old winemaking region of an extremely old winemaking country, and as such it's fair to say that they know what they're doing as far as Sauvignon Blanc is concerned. The mid-Loire is the spiritual home of this now ubiquitous grape variety, and it is here more than anywhere that its true character shows through in all its glory. This is a classic and refined expression, with taught mineral tension supporting a profile of soft peach, lemon, elderflower, and a hint of cedar and boxwood. Drink it just slightly chilled with a French bean salad on a summer's afternoon.
The grapes are sourced from a number of vineyards throughout the, planted on a plethora of soil types. Chalky, Kimmeridgian soils lend the wine its distinctive minerality, while vines planted on the heavier clay, flint soils impart the curious smokey note famous to the region. Chateau de Tracy follow an organic and sustainable approach in the vineyard, and no animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification
