Chateau Fortia Cuvee de Baron 2016
The Cuvee de Baron from Chateau Fortia is the flagship wine from this historic wine estate. Made from a blend of three of the classic Rhone varietals this is a wine that can be drunk now but will also keep for many years. Cuvee de Baron Chateauneuf du Pape is a very textured and silky wine with lovely concentration and a lightness of touch in the winemaking which belies the power of this superb wine.
Chateau Fortia is a symbolic estate in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, both for its location and its roots that are closely linked to that of its appellation. In 1929 due to the efforts of Baron Pierre Leroy, Chateauneuf du Pape became the first appellation with a set of winemaking regulations. Today his descendants carry on the long tradition.
