Chateau Preuillac Medoc Cru Bourgeois 2015

Chateau Preuillac is a fine, elegant wine with plump berried fruits and delicate hints of oak spice, smooth and silky on the palate.

Producer Note - Château Preuillac is an imposing château which dates back to 1869 and is located in the heart of the Médoc, 10 kilometres to the north of Saint Estèphe. Preuillac received well-deserved recognition when it was immediately included in the 1932 Crus Bourgeois classification. Formerly owned by the Mau family, the château has recently been renovated to exacting standards by its new owners including new conical fermenters. The vineyard was planted in the 1970s and covers 30 hectares of sustainably farmed vines, which winemaker Nathalie Billard skilfully translates into a classic, elegant expression of the Médoc.

Vintage - 2015 has been hailed as an excellent vintage in Bordeaux. Generous flowering took place followed by a hot, dry early summer. August was slightly cooler and damper, followed by good weather in September enabling the grapes to reach full maturity. The wines have power and precision, particularly from the right bank appellations and many outstanding wines have been made from lesser appellations.

Vineyard - Château Preuillac is located in the heart of the Médoc. The vineyard covers 30 hectares on a single site. The soils vary with 50% of the vineyard being clay, limestone and gravel soils; 25% gravel soils and 25% sandy-gravel. The average age of the vines is 40 years. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of 'la lutte raisonnée', or sustainable viticulture. The soils are cultivated in order to limit the use of herbicides; and sprayings are only used when absolutely necessary. Much of the work in the vineyard is done by hand, such as green harvesting and debudding in order to optimise the quality of the harvest.

Winemaking - The grapes were carefully destemmed and fermented in thermo-regulated wooden tanks. Fermentation started off at cool temperatures and lasted between eight to 10 days, during which the wine was oxygenated by daily pumping over and rack and returns. The temperature was increased during vinification finishing at 28°C. 70% of the wine was matured in French oak barrels, from different cooperages, for a period of 12 months. Part malolactic fermentation took place in the barrels.

Tasting Note - A fine, elegant wine with plump red berried fruit and delicate hints of oak spice. Smooth and supple on the palate, with fine tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Serving Suggestion - Grilled red meats; game dishes or braised lentils.

Grapes - Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 25%, Cabernet Sauvignon 4%, Petit Verdot 1%

Can you explain your shipping charges?

We charge the amount the courier charges us to deliver the wines. In the majority of cases this is £10.00 for a dozen wines. For local delivery we charge £5.00 as we can often do this ourselves, by local we mean Milton Keynes.

Couriers charge by weight and size and a case of wines is both heavy and bulky and so the costs are fairly high. The charges are the same if you are buying 1 bottle or 6 bottles but they change if you go over 6 bottles due the the excess weight and size. Couriers also charge a fee to cover fuel excess and this all goes towards the total cost not to mention the 20% VAT to be added to everything.

Currently if someone orders a dozen wines they are charged £10.00 but if they order 24 bottles the charge is the same!

If you wish to have your wines shipped to other countries the costs are extreemly high and often not worth paying for. The cost for example to ship to the USA for a dozen wines would be £100.00 for the shipping alone! Therefore we have taken the decision not to ship any wines outside of the UK.

What is your minimum order?

The minimum order is 1 bottle! I prefer it if people order more and you get better value with the delivery if you do this too!

What if I want to send wine as a gift?

No problem, we will send to your preferred address and even include a card free of charge!

We have two kinds of cards a blank one and a Thank you one. However if you want a Valentines one or a birthday card or anyother type of card please let us know. We will write your personal greeting and even include the soppy stuff. We don't charge for the cards as its our way of thanking you for choosing us to send a gift to your loved one.

What about a discount?

I may be able to take a little off the price if you ask nicely and there is a large enough order. Please do not ask for a discount on any orders under 12 bottles.  Email me with your requirements and I will let you know if I can do anything. However the best way to get a discount is to sign up for the newsletter as there is often special offers given away to newsletter subscribers.
