Echeverria Chardonnay No es Pituko

The Echeverria No es Pituko is a full bodied, fresh and vibrant Chardonnay showing crystalline notes of banana, apple and pear layered with brioche, culminating in a refreshing finish with a hint of ginger.

Producer Note - Viña Echeverría is a family-run estate winery, owned and managed by the Echeverría family. Established in 1930, but with an agricultural heritage going back to the 1700s, Viña Echeverría is as much today, as always, driven by a shared passion for winemaking and an uncompromising search for excellence. Viña Echeverría combines nearly a century of viticulture and winemaking experience with a modern state-of-the-art winery, to produce an extensive collection of quality wines. The 'No es Pituko' range represents a radical departure from the rest of the more traditional Echeverría wines, both in look and make-up, being vinified naturally, without any additions at any stage. Viña Echeverría has recently been awarded its Sustainable Winery status by Wines of Chile, as well as its ISO9000 certification.

Vintage - The 2020 harvest will never be forgotten. The Covid 19 pandemic hit during harvest, which followed a very hot season. A warm, dry winter was followed by three days of freezing temperatures in early October. However, the temperatures warmed up and the season was characterised by being hot and dry, resulting in a short and early harvest, yielding concentrated grapes full of flavour.

Vineyard - The grapes come from a single vineyard in the Entre Cordilleras area of the Curicó Valley, situated at 243 metres above sea-level. The climate is Mediterranean with long, dry summers and intense sunlight. There is a marked diurnal temperature range, where the cooler evenings encourage balancing natural acidity and aromatic complexity in the fruit which leads to elegant wines. The 37 year old vines are ungrafted, selected from clones of pre-phylloxera rootstock. Grown in alluvium soils, with clay-loam content and the presence of stone at 80 centimetres depth, the soils are fertile, which allows the vines to express their full fruit potential. The vines are trained on the Lyre system which allows the air and sun to circulate through the vine canopy and helps to prevent mildew. The vineyards are cultivated according to sustainable agricultural methods in order to respect the land and its environment.

Winemaking - 'No es Pituko' is Chilean slang for 'it ain't fancy' reflecting the fact that this wine was vinified naturally, without any additions at any stage. The grapes were hand- harvested and brought to the winery in 18kg boxes to preserve the quality. They were destemmed, pressed and cooled at 8°C, before being fermented with wild yeasts from the environment. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at temperatures of 13 to 17°C and lasted for 25 days. The wine rested on its lees for three months with gentle lees work to impart texture.

Tasting Note - The Echeverria No es Pituko is pale and slightly cloudy due to the natural vinification, this Chardonnay offers intense aromas of banana, apple and pear blended with toasted brioche. The full-bodied, rich and creamy palate is balanced by a refreshing and fruity finish.

Can you explain your shipping charges?

We charge the amount the courier charges us to deliver the wines. In the majority of cases this is £10.00 for a dozen wines. For local delivery we charge £5.00 as we can often do this ourselves, by local we mean Milton Keynes.

Couriers charge by weight and size and a case of wines is both heavy and bulky and so the costs are fairly high. The charges are the same if you are buying 1 bottle or 6 bottles but they change if you go over 6 bottles due the the excess weight and size. Couriers also charge a fee to cover fuel excess and this all goes towards the total cost not to mention the 20% VAT to be added to everything.

Currently if someone orders a dozen wines they are charged £10.00 but if they order 24 bottles the charge is the same!

If you wish to have your wines shipped to other countries the costs are extreemly high and often not worth paying for. The cost for example to ship to the USA for a dozen wines would be £100.00 for the shipping alone! Therefore we have taken the decision not to ship any wines outside of the UK.

What is your minimum order?

The minimum order is 1 bottle! I prefer it if people order more and you get better value with the delivery if you do this too!

What if I want to send wine as a gift?

No problem, we will send to your preferred address and even include a card free of charge!

We have two kinds of cards a blank one and a Thank you one. However if you want a Valentines one or a birthday card or anyother type of card please let us know. We will write your personal greeting and even include the soppy stuff. We don't charge for the cards as its our way of thanking you for choosing us to send a gift to your loved one.

What about a discount?

I may be able to take a little off the price if you ask nicely and there is a large enough order. Please do not ask for a discount on any orders under 12 bottles.  Email me with your requirements and I will let you know if I can do anything. However the best way to get a discount is to sign up for the newsletter as there is often special offers given away to newsletter subscribers.
