Feudi di San Gregorio Dubl+ Greco Spumante NV.
One of the main protagonists in the renaissance of southern Italian wines, Feudi di San Gregorio has carved outa reputation for making truly world-class wines in less than 30 years. The company began in the mid-1980s with the aim of safeguarding local traditions, unlocking the potential of key indigenous grapes such as Fiano, Greco, Falanghin and Aglianico.
Vineyard
The beautiful Feudi di San Gregorio vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, about an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The soils are uniquely volcanic, sandstone and marl. Each vineyard is closely monitored with a meteorological station and the technologies available at the new state-of-the-art wine cellar, ensure that each vintage comes as close to perfection as possible.
Winemaking
Vinified using the traditional method, the primary fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 16-18°C. This was followed by a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The wine spent 24 months ageing on its fine lees.
Tasting Note
A traditional method sparkling wine with a fine and persistent mousse. Floral and fruity aromas of pumpkin flowers, honey, mango and citrus fruits contrast with the chalky vibe of the Greco grape. A good weight on the palate combines with youthfulness and a persistent minerality typical of the terroir.
Serving Suggestion
The perfect apéritif served chilled, or as an accompaniment to raw sea food, sea truffle risotto and fried baccalà (dried and salted cod) served on a layer of chickpeas.
