Marchesi De' Frescobaldi Lamaione IGT 2015
One of the major and largest vine growing businesses in Europe, Frescobaldi owns nine estates covering over 1,000 ha of vineyards, all located in excellent areas for fine wines. Directly managed by its family members, Frescobaldi produces almost 7 million bottles and the wines are exported to over 60 countries throughout the world. The Frescobaldi name goes back many centuries into the history of art, culture, trade and finance of Italy in general and Tuscany in particular. The grapes were hand harvested during the 1st week of September and then softly pressed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at less than 30C and lasted for 12 days. Maceration lasted for 28 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques immediately following alcoholic fermentation.
Low spur pruned cordon trained vines. The main vineyard was planted in 1976, and part was recently planted. High density planting with 5,500 vines per hectare.
This wine, made from 100% Merlot, shows intense aromas of redcurrants and blackberries with hints of vanilla through to a complex, earthy palate with balanced oak.

Slow cooked dishes such as pot roasts, stews with wild mushrooms or beef fillet.
