New Hall Pinot Noir Rosé 2018
The Pinot Noir Rosé wine from New Hall is an off-dry rosé with an appealing perfumed nose with floral notes complemented by cooked strawberry and a full and creamy mouthfeel.
Producer Note - Piers Greenwood is a bit of a visionary, he planted his vineyard in Purleigh, Essex in 1969, which makes it one of the oldest in the UK. The vineyard benefits from a very special microclimate and Purleigh is one of the warmest and sunniest spots in the country. Today New Hall Vineyard has 40 hectares under vine and one of the largest plantings of Bacchus in the UK.
Winemaker - Piers has won the prestigious UK Winemaker of the Year Award in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and his highly acclaimed and award-winning wines showcase English Wine at its best. Vineyard The grape vines grown at New Hall were carefully selected and have been planted at only 12 to 24 metres above sea level on well-sheltered, southern facing slopes of a shallow valley. Over the years this site has proven itself to be an almost ideal place for the growing of vines in England, producing above average crops of high quality grapes with naturally high sugars each year. The vines are grown in London clay soils of Tertiary age, with chalk, concealed below the clay deposits. The fruit was handpicked at optimum maturity.
Winemaking - The grapes underwent a short skin contact, to naturally achieve the salmon pink colour from the skins. The grapes whole bunch pressed and cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain the purity of fruit.
Tasting Note - A deep salmon rosé with appealing and perfumed aromas of strawberries and cream from the Pinot Noir. The subtle addition of Rondo and Acolon imbues notes of ripe cassis and wild raspberry on the finish. A crisp rosé displaying a beautiful purity of fruit, great structure and finesse.
Serving Suggestion - A wonderful apéritif wine, which also accompanies white meat and fish dishes in a delicate sauce.
Grapes - Pinot Noir 90%, Acolon 5%, Rondo 5%
