Pinord Priorat Plus 7 2012
Bodegas Pinord is a family business which was founded 150 years ago. The Penedes district is situated between Barcelona and Tarragona, with the mountains of Montserrat marking the border in the north and the Mediterranean in the South. The soil is varied, contrasting from chalky clay to sandstone with distinct differences in depth so that the vines may take root. The mild Mediterranean climate is ideal for growing vines, indeed there is evidence that the Romans planted vineyards here. The slightly wetter weather in the valleys means that there is non need for irrigation.
Vinification
The grapes are sourced from 7 different plots of land from the slatey soils of the vineyard. They are cultivated organically and harvested by hand. They then undergo careful maceration followed by ageing for 12 months in American and French oak barrels.
