Santo Isidro de Pegoes Red 2015
Santo Isidro de Pegoes is one of the most forward thinking co-operatives in Portugal and their chief winemaker, Jaime Quendera, skillfully blends the warm native varities of Castelao, Tourgia Nacional and Trincadeira with international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to produce wines bursting with flavour. Founded in 1958 in the small village of Pegoes the winery has access to a total of 1,100 hectares owned by 140 winegrowers. It boasts the most up to date equipment including over 90 stainless steel vats and 1,600 oak barrels. It produces a variety of wines - Terras do Sado regional wines, DOC wines and most recently the famous local dessert wine, Moscatel de Setubal. Each year all of the production is bottled and sold with 80% destined for the domestic market and 20% for export.
Vinification
