Finca Bacara Time Waits for No One Stone Elephant 2020

The Finca Bacara Time Waits for No One Stone Elephant is a superb example of Monastrell, with its powerful and intense nose of ripe black fruits supported by subtle hints of oak spice and black pepper. Balanced and warm with a lovely savoury note on the palate. This is a lovely red wine.

Producer Note - Finca Bacara is based in DO Jumilla in South-Eastern Spain, a region characterised by its high elevation plains and valleys. Finca Baraca follows a philosophy that wines are inextricably linked to the land, and are therefore committed to developing them with minimal impact on the environment. The vineyards are certified organic and are situated at 900 metres elevation. Winemaker Luis Javier Pérez has crafted an original series based on the philosophy that 'Time Waits For No-One' encourages us to live every moment - time cannot be recovered. The idiosyncratically packaged wines are fruit-driven, highly original and like time, they are to be enjoyed and cherished.

Vintage - 2019 was a hot, dry vintage. Early in the season-high rainfall during budding set the growth cycle off in a positive direction. However, the rain ceased for several months during the summer and the warm, dry conditions slowed the vigour of the vines down. However, during the final stages of the vintage timely rain fell, allowing the vines to pick up and naturally correct the acidity levels. 2019 is set to be a very good vintage for Finca Bacara.

Vineyard - The climate for the Finca Bacara Time Waits for No One Stone Elephant is continental with long hot summers, with temperatures reaching 40°C and cold winters, falling to 0°C, tempered by the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea. Planted at 900 metres elevation, the warm daytime temperatures are mitigated by cooler evenings, creating a long ripening period where the fruit develops concentrated flavours balanced by refreshing acidity. The area is arid with low rainfall, most of which falls during spring and autumn; often during violent storms. The soils are dark, lime bearing and some have a hard lime crust; overall, they are permeable and have good moisture-retaining properties, which allows the vines to survive during prolonged periods of drought. They are poor in organic matter and their structure does not support phylloxera due to the sand content. The vines are cultivated without the use of synthetic products and are manually harvested.

Winemaking - The grapes were chosen from the best plots and carefully selected. Fermentation and maceration took place with skin contact, in stainless steel tanks and lasted between 15 to 25 days. The temperatures were carefully monitored, to ensure they did not exceed 28°C. The wine was then aged in new American oak barrels for a period of six months, prior to release.

Tasting Note - A superb example of Monastrell, with its powerful and intense nose of ripe black fruits supported by subtle hints of spice from a deft use of oak. The vibrant fruit is rounded out with a savoury note and it shows great purity on the finish.

Can you explain your shipping charges?

We charge the amount the courier charges us to deliver the wines. In the majority of cases this is £10.00 for a dozen wines. For local delivery we charge £5.00 as we can often do this ourselves, by local we mean Milton Keynes.

Couriers charge by weight and size and a case of wines is both heavy and bulky and so the costs are fairly high. The charges are the same if you are buying 1 bottle or 6 bottles but they change if you go over 6 bottles due the the excess weight and size. Couriers also charge a fee to cover fuel excess and this all goes towards the total cost not to mention the 20% VAT to be added to everything.

Currently if someone orders a dozen wines they are charged £10.00 but if they order 24 bottles the charge is the same!

If you wish to have your wines shipped to other countries the costs are extreemly high and often not worth paying for. The cost for example to ship to the USA for a dozen wines would be £100.00 for the shipping alone! Therefore we have taken the decision not to ship any wines outside of the UK.

What is your minimum order?

The minimum order is 1 bottle! I prefer it if people order more and you get better value with the delivery if you do this too!

What if I want to send wine as a gift?

No problem, we will send to your preferred address and even include a card free of charge!

We have two kinds of cards a blank one and a Thank you one. However if you want a Valentines one or a birthday card or anyother type of card please let us know. We will write your personal greeting and even include the soppy stuff. We don't charge for the cards as its our way of thanking you for choosing us to send a gift to your loved one.

What about a discount?

I may be able to take a little off the price if you ask nicely and there is a large enough order. Please do not ask for a discount on any orders under 12 bottles.  Email me with your requirements and I will let you know if I can do anything. However the best way to get a discount is to sign up for the newsletter as there is often special offers given away to newsletter subscribers.
