Tournee du Sud Picpoul de Pinet 2017
Picpoul de Pinet is one of the most fashionable white wines atb the moment and with good reason. It's a fantastic match for fish and shellfish dishes but is moorish enough to drink on it's own. Be careful not to chill this wine too much otherwise you might miss out on the subtle flavours and textures.
What a great concept - a Tour of the South of France - get out the vélo and let's join the touriste-routiers. But why be part of the peloton when you can attack from the front, and make wine which really matters and offer wine lovers liberté de choix? Hence, among the delights on offer here is a beautiful Picpoul de Pinet - the fish wine - a vivacious Grenache Blanc/Sauvignon Blanc blend and a quite beautiful and unusual Grenache/ Pinot Noir blend.
This wine was sourced from long-standing suppliers in Montignac, following exhaustive searching throughout the Languedoc during the spring and summer.
Fermented in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness and aromatics of the Picpoul Blanc variety.
A steely, poised dry white wine, with an aura of lemon peel and flora on the nose. Great concentration on the palate, zingy acidity and unusual depth on the finish.
Perfect as an apéritif or with shellfish, especially oysters, and pan-fried white fish and suits delicate sauces.
