Tramin Pinot Noir 2020
A beautiful winery making beautiful wines. Cantina Tramin, founded in 1898, has 280 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on the cultivation of the vines. It covers 230 hectares of vineyards situated on the sunny slopes at an altitude of 250-700M above sea level. These vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of northern Italy. The sleepy village of Tramin, where the winery is situated, is thought to be the birthplace of the Traminer white grape variety, also known as Gewurztraminer. In 2011 Tramin gained the "double Stella". This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso. Work has just been finished on the construction of a new state-of-the-art winery blessed with the latest technology.
The grapes were macerated at 26-28C with daily stirring and punching down of the cap. Fermentation and ageing took place partly in large barrels, French barriques and stainless steel tanks. The wine was then blended and left to rest in tank before being bottled.
Smooth, light and fruity with a bouquet reminiscent of strawberries and vanilla with a hint of light herbs on the finish.
Everyday Serving Suggestion
A fresh, fruity wine with wild berry fruit aromas underpinned by light mountain herbs. On the palate it shows lovely balance and is framed by a good tannic structure through to an elegant finish.
